Flood Insurance Becomes Possible In Lakewood
Lakewood property owners can now get flood insurance as the city announced it has been accepted entry into the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s Flood Insurance program. City residents and business owners did not have that option because the satellite city has not been a part of the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s flood insurance program. Cities and counties must be in FEMA’s flood
insurance program to be eligible to buy flood insurance through an
agent, according to Phil Maples, regional director of Lakewood began efforts then to get into the flood insurance program in 2005 when officials discovered it wasn’t in FEMA. Those efforts increased because of the possibilities presented with a potential break in the Wolf Creek Dam in Kentucky. Residents will need to contact their insurance agent if they are interested in flood insurance.
